Marguerite MacDonald is the Director for the Office of Academic Success at Harrisburg Area Community College. She is responsible for the development, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of academic support services at the College. In a career that has spanned over twenty years in academic affairs and student services, she has served as a learning support services coordinator, counselor, developmental education advisor, grant writer, student success instructor, campus ombudsperson, and internship facilitator.
As a member of the National Association for Developmental Education (NADE) since 1993, she has served since 2011 as the Vice President of the NADE Executive Board. In addition, she served as the Committee Coordinator from 2009 to 2011, Elections Committee Chair from 2006 to 2009, and Co-Chaired the NADE 2006 Conference.
Marguerite has been a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Developmental Educators (PADE) since 1990 and was an active member of its Board of Directors from 1992 until 2005. She is also a Past-President of PADE. In 2002, she was the recipient of PADE’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to PADE. She also received PADE’s 2000 Award for Outstanding Developmental Program, and PADE’s 1997 Outstanding Service to Developmental Students Award.
Marguerite is a 1994 graduate of Leadership-Harrisburg Area and has served on the Board of Directors since 2010. In 2012, she was elected Secretary of the LHA Executive Committee. She also has served on the Board of Directors for Holy Spirit Hospital Health System’s Spirit Physicians Services since 2000 and as its Chair since 2009.
